PDR SET UP CENTRE FOR PATIENT SPECIFIC MEDICAL PRODUCT DESIGN

June 14, 2010

The Centre for Patient Specific Medical Product Design has been established at PDR. The Centre will assist the broad spectrum of Welsh medical product development companies and NHS specialties to tackle the growing demand for products that are personalised to meet patient needs.

The new centre will build upon the success of the Medical Applications Group (MAG) and the CARTIS collaboration. Two new roles will be created by the centre: a technology translator and research technician.

The Centre will provide access to Welsh industry on cutting edge principles at a number of levels:
Make available to Welsh-based companies the latest intellectual and technical resources in patient-specific design.
Provide such access to these resources in a manner that is responsive to the needs of individual company clients, NHS specialties and other partners.

Develop and maintain an on-going research programme in the techniques of patient-specific design, making the outcomes of such research available to clients in a pro-active and timely manner.
