The PDR design team took a day away from the studio to meet with this year’s young and aspiring designers at the New Designers Showcase 2010 in London. Presented with a host of creative inspiration spanning from textiles through to product, graphics and architecture this annual event is a good benchmark of what the UK graduate skill level is at present. With a pressure on young graduates to differentiate themselves from the skill sets of others there was an interesting display of product idea’s, and creative presentation. Consistent with past years; Northumbria and Loughborough presented a very competent display of graduate talent.  

Unusual to most years; after talking with many of the graduates, most seem to hold the intent to travel over the next 12 months and face finding a job upon their return!  Amongst the graduates were some entrepreneurs boasting plans to set up new services of render farms and rapid visualisation. 

Another year, a developing industry, it will be interesting to see how much of this young talent find their way into a job. Confidant creative’s are always wanted!
